Colt Starting
From the round pen to the arena and trails, Jared's colt starting process teaches your horse how to move off of pressure, respond quietly, and trust in you to lead the dance. With a methodical approach to each session, Jared works to build a light feel and sure understanding every step of the way. The end goal? To help deepen the connection between you and horse, and lay a foundation for lasting success in any discipline.

FAQs
Colt starting includes board (feed, water, full-time turnout with run-in shed) and 5 training sessions per week. Jared will prioritize life skills like trailer loading and picking up all four feet in addition to your horse's foundational experience under saddle.
Absolutely. One weekly hands-on lesson is included throughout the colt starting process, in which you will be able to build on your working relationship with your horse. Jared will also share photo and video updates (often daily) to keep you in the loop on overall progress.
Jared begins with groundwork in a rope halter and proceeds to first rides in the hackamore. He will use one of his own saddles throughout, but is firmly committed to putting the horse first and will consider yours should you have one that better fits your horse. He does not wear spurs and strongly rejects use of unnecessary gimmicks and devices.

Every horse has a unique story, just like you and me, which means there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Your horse's age, breed, history, and conformation will all be factored in to ensure as safe and well-rounded a start as possible.
